Preview –

Australia drew the first blood in a close contest on Friday. The visitors won the first One Day International match of the three-match ODI series, and they lead the series to 1-0. Now Australia has a golden chance to clinch the ODI series and create history on Sunday.

The hosts started well with the ball. But they lost their way in between when Maxi and Marsh put a great batting show. Their partnership was the one that kept England away from the game, and when England batted, the top order didn’t start well. But the heroics knocks from Billings and Bairstow gave them hope of a miracle even after the poor start.

Now the hosts will want to square the series to 1 all and then play the series’s deciding match on Wednesday. After winning the T20I series by 2-1 margin, England will not want to lose the three-match series of the 50 over format against the same opposition.

Australia Vs England –Today Match Prediction – 2nd One Day International Preview – England’s Team Preview

The hosts lost the gained momentum with the ball first. Australia was struggling before the Glenn Maxwell, and Mitchell Marsh rescued their team. Their partnership of 126 runs allowed the visitors to take the game away from England.

The bowling has been good from England. The new ball bowlers like Wood and Archer have been impressive in the T20I series and the 1st ODI match at Old Trafford. But Woakes looked a bit off-colored on Friday, and so as Moeen Ali.

These two need to give some vital strikes in the middle overs, putting pressure on the middle and lower-order batsmen. Adil Rashid is the one who has been picking wickets in the middle overs regularly. But he needs support from Curran, Ali, and Woakes to put more pressure on Australia in the do or die encounter.

The middle-order batting has been a problem since the T20I series against Pakistan. The likes of Eoin Morgan, Jos Buttler, and Moeen Ali haven’t been the men to do that job for this England side. The home team was under more pressure when Jason Roy and Joe Root got out early.

Roy had just returned to the ODI side after injury. England will expect him to fire in the series decider tomorrow.

Root wasn’t picked in the series of shortest format against Pakistan and Australia. But England relies a lot on Root. The number 3 batting position is given to the most trusted batsmen in the line-up.

Root has gained that trust by giving much consistent performance in the 50 over format. The Test skipper of England is expected to fire in this vital encounter after he looked a bit rusty in the first ODI game. Root managed just one run to his name in the first match of this series.

Jos Buttler had a terrific series T20 series against Australia. Buttler opened the innings with Bairstow, and he also guided England home in the 2nd T20I match, which allowed England to win that series. But in the first ODI match, Buttler was also dismissed for just a single run.

England will want to save the series on Sunday, and for that, the hosts need big runs from their middle-order batsmen. Morgan, Root, and Buttler are the ones who will be the players to watch out for in the second match against Australia on Sunday.

Billings scored a magnificent maiden ODI ton. But it ended in a losing cause. Billings shared a much-needed partnership with another wicket-keeper. But due to the other batters’ failure, England couldn’t chase that total down after Zampa ended their stand. Now both the batsmen are expected to recreate that magic once again.

Australia Vs England –Today Match Prediction – 2nd One Day International Preview – Australia’s Team Preview

Australia’s bowling was superior to their batting in the first ODI. Hazlewood, Zampa, and Cummins were the ones who made some early inroads in England’s innings while they chased. But Australia has a worrying factor in their bowling department before they go to clinch the ODI series on Sunday.

Mitchell Starc suffered a groin injury. He hasn’t looked comfortable while bowling. Starc has not picked up wickets, maybe due to that reason. Australia might not go ahead with Starc for the 2nd ODI match on Sunday. Andrew Tye might be the perfect replacement for Starc.

Tye has been a good bowler for Australia in the limited-overs format. In the 50 over format, he is the one who can bowl at the depth overs just like he bowls in the shortest format. Tye has a bulk of experience bowling in the depth overs due to the IPL and KFC Big Bash League.

Hazlewood and Cummins are the ones who can handle the new ball. Hazlewood as superb on Friday and Australia will want him to continue his good work, which might help them seal the series on Sunday.

Likewise, Cummins and Zampa are also the guys who are expected to do well on Sunday. Zampa picked up a four-wicket haul in the first game. Now the spin bowler should aim to pick up a five fer in the next game.

Steve Smith maybe not playing again in the second ODI. After he had a poor T20I series, Smith suffered a blow on his head during the practice session. He missed the first ODI due to that reason, and he is doubtful for the second encounter.

Mitchell Marsh has been the best all-rounder for Australia. He was the one who guided the team over the line in the third and final T20I match. Marsh had shared an unbeaten partnership with Glenn Maxwell, which helped Australia to go ahead in the first match.

Australia can use Maxwell’s spin, and Marsh is there ready to bowl in the middle overs. In the ODI series, this Australian side looks a complete side than the hosts England, and due to this, The Aussies have a chance of winning the ODI series on Sunday.
