England Vs Australia – Today’s Match Prediction – 3rd and Final ODI Preview – Team Australia’s preview
Australia has left it too late to clinch the ODI series in England. The visitors have given them a chance of a comeback which might hurt them in the series decider. Australia’s batting has been a problem for them.
They need runs from their top order, and they should also include Steve Smith for this deciding match. Aaron Finch is the only top-order batsman who has been getting runs for them, and the inclusion of Mitchell Marsh has helped them as well.
But David Warner, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Marnus Labuschagne, and Alex Carey will have to fire for the visitors in the series-deciding match. Steve Smith had two games off, and now he might be ready to play on Wednesday.
Steve Smith has been a champion batsman for the baggy green team. He should be included in the place of Marcus Stoinis, who has been struggling for form since the start of the T20I series which England won by 2-1 margin.
Smith is the most dependable batsman for Australia, and now in this series saving situation, Australia needs Smith because there are no batters who could hold the innings together. Apart from Skipper Aaron Finch, there has been no batter who took the responsibility of the batting in the last two ODIS. Including Smith might work for Australia in this series-deciding match.
Glen Maxwell had an excellent partnership with Mitch Marsh which took the game away from England on Friday in the 1st ODI match. But on Sunday he failed to continue that good form. Maxwell should have been till the end to finish the game in style for the Aussies. He can be the perfect finisher with Alex Carey at the other end.
Alex Carey had no support. The likes of Starc, Cummins, and Zampa should have been there to guide the Australian innings after a couple of wickets fell. But instead, Carey had to take a lot of load on himself to guide Australia till the finishing line. Carey can be promoted up the order in the next game, which will help him and Australia to gain some momentum in the innings.
There is no talk of the bowling much because the bowlers from both the teams had a good series so far. Hazlewood, Cummins, Zampa, and Starc have been good until now. Australia will hope that these four bowlers will also retain their same form for the final ODI match of the series.
England Vs Australia – Today’s Match Prediction – 3rd One Day International Preview – Team England’s Preview
England won the ODI series because of their majority contribution had come from the bowlers. The bowlers are in red hot form for England. The new ball bowlers like Mark Wood, Jofra Archer, Sam Curran and Adil Rashid are the ones who have been picking up vital wickets at a crucial stage.
But the worry of England’s batting still lies as it is. Johnny Bairstow, Jason Roy, Eoin Morgan, Jos Buttler and Sam Billings need to fire in the must-win game for the home team. Bairstow and Billings had an excellent first ODI match. But they needed to continue their form in the second.
While the first two games of the ODI series hasn’t been good for Morgan, Root, Buttler and Roy, the contributions from these four players is next to none in the ODI series so far. If England wants to win the ODI series by a comprehensive margin, then the top and the middle order needs to fire in this do or die game.
England should include Dawid Malan in the middle order. Malan had a superb T20I series against Australia, and his inclusion will make the middle order look stronger. David Malan can play in place of Chris Woakes, who has looked off coloured in this ODI series since his comeback. The bowling department, led by Archer has the firepower to restrict Australia. So the hosts will need Dawid Malan’s batting expertise in the middle order.
England can also drop Jos Buttler from the third and the final match of the series. Buttler hasn’t had a good ODI series so far. England has the option of replacing Buttler and getting Malan in the ODI playing XI for this final encounter. The home team already have two wicketkeepers playing in the eleven, Sam Billings or Johnny Bairstow can do the wicketkeeping role for the side in the absence of Buttler.
