The Royal Challengers Bangalore will present a mouth-watering challenge to Kings XI Punjab in the sixth match of the Dream 11 Indian Premier League season 2020. Virat’s RCB will look to maintain their winning momentum, whereas Kings XI Punjab will look to bounce back in their second game.
This match will be played in Dubai at the Dubai International Stadium. The advantage which both the teams have is that they have played one game each on this ground. So they will know what to expect from their opposition teams in this encounter.
Royal Challengers Bangalore – Team Preview
RCB had a royal start to their IPL 2020 campaign. They were put to bat by SRH in their first game, and they batted very well to post a challenging score on the board. Devdutt Paddikal was superb in his debut game. He is a young prospect who can play for India in the future.
Under Virat Kohli, Devdutt Paddikal will be expected to play more such knocks in the season and make a strong case for himself in the World T20, which will be played next year in India. If Paddikal could carry his excellent form, he can be the third option for India’s opening slot in that tournament.
Aaron Finch was a mere spectator at the other when Paddikal continued his onslaught at the striker’s end. But the Aussie skipper provided excellent support to the young batsman that will do a world of good for Paddikal. Finch will look to make a mark in the second game against KXIP on Thursday.
Virat Kohli didn’t have enough time to play an impactful inning on Monday. Due to the openers’ brilliant start, Virat couldn’t get that time to pace his innings like he usually does. But still, he could have scored a lot more than just 14 runs. In the game against KXIP, King Kohli is expected to shine.
ABD was the one who took RCB to a defendable total. AB delivered yet again for RCB, and that knock of his was a match-turning one because if he had got out, then RCB would have struggled to reach the score of 163 runs at the end of their 20 overs, and it would have also been difficult for RCB to win that opening game.
Umesh Yadav was expensive in the match against SRH. RCB has options to play another fast bowler in place of Umesh Yadav for the next game. They can also drop Josh Philip and pick Parthiv Patel in the next match.
Parthiv Patel will be an ideal batsman to bat with AB De Villers in the middle order. Patel has been an experienced player who used to open for RCB. But this time, his experience will play an essential role in the middle order. RCB needs batsmen after ABD, and Parthiv Patel will be an ideal choice as the middle order who can keep the wickets as well.
Including Parthiv Patel can work for RCB because they can include an overseas fast bowling option in their playing XI. Umesh Yadav can be replaced by Chris Morris, a fast-bowling all-rounder from South Africa. Morris will certainly not leak runs as Umesh did in the first game, and his batting abilities will help RCB to score more, especially when they are chasing a sniff target.
RCB won the first game because of Yuzvendra Chahal’s spin attacking bowling. SRH was in the game, although Warner was out in an unfortunate way. Chahal broke the mini stand between Pandey and Bairstow, and later, he picked up this third wicket in-form of Vijay Shankar.
Chahal bowled some attacking lines to the SRH batsmen and he did the trick for RCB in their first game, and now RCB and Kohli will expect the spin star to spin another web against KL Rahul’s KXIP in their second game.
The fast bowling looked decent after Chahal made breakthroughs. Dube, Steyn, and Saini struggled at the start. But once Chahal set up the game for them, they didn’t cut loose from that position. Virat will want them to make an impact on the new ball as well, and that’s why the inclusion of Chris Morris is important for RCB.
Kings XI Punjab – Team Preview
Punjab lost a close game against Delhi Capitals on Sunday, and here they are again to play their second match of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League against Royal Challengers Bangalore. KXIP will want to put that close loss behind, and they should concentrate on starting their 2020 season with a win.
KL Rahul’s captaincy was all in praise till Marcus Stoinis took the game away from them, and now he has been criticized for not sending Mayank Agarwal in the super over the contest, which allowed DC to win their first game comfortably.
Rahul also couldn’t score many runs in their first match. Now he will be looking step up as a leader by example. His contribution with the bat is as important as his captaincy skills. Punjab should include Chris Gayle for this encounter. The universal Boss was left out of the first game, and Nicholas Pooran was included in place of Chris Gayle.
Gayle is the only batsman to smash 10,000 runs in the shortest format, and he has given many good starts for his franchises in this cash-rich league tournament. KXIP shouldn’t have dropped a senior player like Gayle from their opening match.
Nicholas Pooran is a young existing talent in the making. But Pooran will need time to settle. He was included for batting skills in the first game as KL Rahul will be the skipper and the keeper for KXIP this season. But Pooran failed to deliver in that run chase, and so KXIP should go back to Chris and Rahul as their openers for the next game.
Mayank Agarwal can be the number 3 batter in the next match. He batted well, but still, he couldn’t get his team over the line. Agarwal will aim to do a similar thing this time and finish the game once he is set.
The middle-order has to come good. Maxwell, Nair, Sarfaraz Khan, and Krishnappa Gowtham will have to come good in the second encounter. They will have to score runs in the middle, and Gowtahm with Maxwell will have to finish the games for them.
The bowing looked decent in the first game. Shami was brilliant in giving breakthroughs at the start. But the end could have been better. Chris Jordan struggled to pick up wickets and went for runs in the last few overs.
Ravi Bishnoi had a decent debut. But KL Rahul and KXIP will want more from this youngster. Punjab should include Mujeeb Ur Rahaman in their eleven. Mujeeb has a terrific spinner for the KXIP team, and with just Gowtham and Bishnoi, the spin department of KXIP doesn’t make an impact. The inclusion of Mujeeb will help KXIP continue their dominance in the middle overs, which was missing in the game against Delhi Capitals.
James Neesham is another all-rounder who can play in the Punjab side. But the question is that whom does he replace? KXIP might think of replacing him with Sheldon Cottrell for the next game. Neesham is a batting all-rounder who can bowl well in the death overs, and his batting skills will come handy in the struggling middle order of Punjab.
